Our Founding Members
Initial Board of Directors in 1992 and Past Members
In the summer of 1992, Peter Webb, the then President of the Cage Bird Society of Hamilton, felt the aviary at Dundurn Castle was valuable to the community. He was essential in drafting a Constitution for the organization, a Proposed Management Plan to the City, and agreed to organize volunteers to run the aviary. Peter and his wife Donna were instrumental in getting the aviary on its feet, caring for almost 100 different types of birds on their own before enlisting the help of new volunteers!​
The volunteer base surrounding the aviary grew! By December there were over 40 members and the first Board of Directors was elected. Take a look at some of the recognized members throughout our history!​​
