Volunteer!
We are 100% volunteer-run so our volunteers are essential to the care and enrichment of our birds! As of September 1st, 2024 we have updated our volunteer roles to align with our new direction. Fill out our Google form to get involved in opportunities that interest you.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
BIRD SITTING
We are hoping to start offering short and long term bird sitting to our community! If you are interested in doing this either at your home or by travelling to the bird's please join our team!
FOSTERING
A hands on learning experience! Care for a surrendered parrot in your home. Don't worry we will be providing support and covering costs of vets visits, pellets, and a care package. We have a 30 day Quarantine and Full Term (until the bird is adopted) placement available.
CHOP CLUB
Chop Club is offered to feed the birds in our foster program, volunteer's personal birds, and members of the public to come learn about and make a delicious birdie chop (vegetable) recipe!
TOY WORKSHOP
Similar to Chop Club, we will be using this program to make toys for the birds in our foster care program, but also open it up for volunteers and members of the public to participate.

It takes a lot of collaboration to build a successful organization. If you have in interest Fundraising, Communications, Training, Health & Enrichment, Education & Outreach, or Operations, please reach out to us to connect.
EVENTS ASSISTANCE
Help us to man events day of! If you are interested in interacting with the public and spreading The Aviary's message then this position is for you! You would be working with the Community Outreach Team who are in charge of planning the event.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS

BIRD DRIVER
Our birds will need your help to travel. This could mean picking them up from their old homes, bringing birds to foster homes, picking up and delivering birds in our Bird Sitting program, going to the vet, and/or bringing birds to their forever homes.
GRANT WRITER
We are in need of a dedicated team to look into funding opportunities, grants, and writing the applications that go with them. Grants to hire staff and to go towards land are our top priorities!
COMMUNITY PRESENTER
Help us run fun and exciting events within your community! You would be working with our Community Outreach Team to help with manpower at local organizations (libraries, schools, etc).
SOCIAL MEDIA AND NEWSLETTER
Help us capture and edit photo and video content of our birds to update our social media and website, as well as write content for our newsletter and website blog.
DISCORD
Become a moderator to help with our internal Discord Server. Provide support to people who have questions and help make the server better by implementing bots or hosting activities.
